No, smelling vomit is not a symptom of a sinus infection. Some symptoms of a sinus infections include stuffed up nose, sore throat, swollen glands, and headache.
Influenza, colds, and other viral infections; bacterial upper respiratory infections and sinus infections; and fungal infections can cause this, although it is usually a temporary condition that goes away when the other acute signs of the infection go away. If this sensory loss has persisted beyond that, you should check with a health care professional to find out if you need treatment.
The word anosmia means the complete loss of smell and often the causes are things such as poor air quality. Other possible causes are colds, allergies or a sinus infection. This can also be caused by things such as an injury or drug abuse.

Without assessing you, it is hard to say. However, if you have had any sinus congestion, a runny nose, or some other similar upper airway symptom, your ability to smell/taste may be diminished. (Generally the loss of taste follows a loss of smell, as smell contributes significantly to taste.) There are other causes, such as problems with the cranial nerves. It this loss of smell and taste persists, you should be evaluated by a health care professional.
Treating chronic conditions such as sinus infections can be very costly. Fortunately, there are many home remedies that people can try. One of the cheapest and easiest ways to help with your sinuses is to sniff a chopped onion! The potent smell of the onion will cause you to tear up and your nose to run, in turn causing the mucus to loosen. Just simply blow your nose once it starts running.Another treatment is to use a neti pot with either a store bought nasal solution or a solution of salt and water. The neti pot is inserted in one nostril and drains out the other. This method is also very effective in the prevention of sinus infections.

It is possible it could be a sinus infection. - other symptoms a smell in your nose of the infected sinus. excretion from nose that smells. general unwell feeling. Or it could be a brain tumor.
We generally don't realize this, but about 60% of "taste" is actually "smell". If you have had sinus infections or blockages, you can have a severely decreased ability to taste things - because you can't SMELL them. You can talk to your doctor about sinus problems, but one simple alternative is sinus lavage, or "rinsing". There are a number of "nasal pumps" that pump salt water up one nostril and allow it to drain through the other nostril. (This requires a rather strange posture, head-down in the sink to allow the water to wash through.) Or you can look at "neti pots" for sinus drainage. (See attached link.)
