the Kia Sportage 2000 thermostat, they is a small open hole seats on the plate just like the one in the centre where does it face when u put the thermostat in the housing
Generally the spring of the thermostat goes towards the engine block.
The larger part with the spring on it goes towards (in to) the engine.
The spring side goes toward the engine.
When you look at the thermostate there will be a pointed side on top and a round part on the bottom. the round part goes toward the engine and the pointed part goes toeard the radiator
The copper portion with the springs goes into the intake manifold. Once installed, the "bridge" part will be pointing away from the engine toward the front of the car.
the thermostat housing is part of the water pump assembly. follow the upper radiator hose toward the engine. you will see the housing, held down with two bolts.
I don't have a picture of the engine cooling thermostat but on a 1995 Ford Explorer : If you follow the top radiator hose from the radiator it connects to a metal pipe ( which is part of the thermostat housing ) that is bolted to the front of the engine The engine cooling thermostat is inside the housing * the spring side of the thermostat faces towards the engine , the vent hole goes to the top
waterneck/thermostat housing
The thermostat on a Daihatsu Rocky is located in the engine compartment. It is on the top part of the engine.
You have to remove the part of the exhaust manifold that wraps around the driver's side of the engine, which is no easy task! The thermostat housing is behind that manifold. There is a small cast iron pipe leading out toward the radiator with a radiator hose attached to it. Follow that iron pipe in toward the engine, and you will see where to remove the two bolts to get to the thermostat. The designers did not think about the auto owner on this one.
Some thermostats have an arrow embosed on the one of the legs pointing toward the radiator. Generally speaking, the side with what looks like a spring and cylindrical bulb should be immersed in the heated water from the engine. Since the water in the hose attached to the radiator is not heated by the engine, this would be the wrong side. Also, on my Sundance (2.2L engine), the thermostat fits only in the correct orientation (try a dry fit first). Spring into engine.
The Top Radiator Hose, Is Connected To The Radiator Then To The Engine. The Thermostat Is Behine The Thermostat Housing. This Is The Part Where The Top Hose Is Clamped On. Should Be Held On The Engine By Two Bolts. Remove The Hose From Housing, Remove Housing. Get New Thermostat And Gasket & A Small amount Of Silicone Sealant. When You Remove The Thermostat Remember The Direction It Was So You Can Install The New One Correctly +++ Spring Side Toward Engine.
On the 3.5L The thermostat is actually part of the water neck on the front of the motor. Passenger side on the front. Follow the radiator hose to the engine. Where it goes into the engine is the water neck. It is all one piece.
