The remainder group or R Group. An amino acid is constituted by the amine group, the carboxylic acid group, and the side chain (AKA Remainder group). It's the chemistry of the side chain that makes an amino acid unique from the other amino acids.

∙ 11y agoThe 'R' group. This is the chain of atoms attached to the central Carbon atom (the one with the amine group and the carboxyl group attached to).
The R group is different for each amino acid. For example, cysteine is the only amino acid to have a sulfur atom in its R group.
