Biblical myths and legends are more important than scientific or historical facts in the very narrow sense that they underpin religious belief. Thus, for example, to a theologian the creation story in Genesis chapter 1 could be important even though it conflicts with scientific facts. Others see religious belief as very possible and actually more mature when we accept the scientific facts and recognise that parts of the Old Testament are not literally true.
Moral truths found in the Old Testament are not in conflict with scientific facts and are arguably more important than mere facts.
