Well, the nervous system consists of the brain and tons of nerves and your spinal chord. All these nerves are close to body parts so if you hit something funny, you feel it. Really badly sometimes.
Everywhere on you body you've got feeling. So the nervous system extends throughout the entire body.
The biggest parts of the nervous system are the brains and the spinal cord.

The autonomic nervous system that controls the functions within the body. Some functions that it controls are the heartbeat, digestive system, and breathing. The autonomic nervous system is the part of the peripheral nervous system that acts as a control system. It functions largely below the level of consciousness to control visceral functions.
