The Alps

It is sometims considered as central Europe, but in reality it is quite clearly in the northern half of Europe and in the same time in the western half of Europe. Then, depending of the context it can be seen as either a northern European country, western European country or central European country. Northern Germany, that lies along the north sea and Baltic sea is clearly part of northern Europe; when southern Germany, that borders Austria, switzerland and the Alps is clearly part of central Europe; while regions along the rhine, in western Germany, along Belgium or northern France are clearly part of western Europe.
