These often date back 75 million years or so, which wasn't very long for the continents to drift very far. Odds are, they lived in a desert environment very similar to what Mongolia looks like today.

This area was a desert at the time, complete with vast areas of sand dunes and frequent sandstorms. Life was sustained by scattered creeks, which would be surrounded by vegetation. Plants were sparse except near sources of water, where there would be oases. Types of plants include conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, ferns, horsetails, and early angiosperms, such as primitive grasses and palm trees.
