∙ 6y agoFor a brief period of time, Democrats controlled both houses of congress, but in the 2010 mid-term elections, Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives, and then in the 2014 mid-term elections, Democrats lost control of the Senate. Thus, for the last several years of Pres. Obama's time in office, Republicans controlled both houses of congress.
