There are 14 AGR reactors, two of the old magnox reactors, and one PWR operating in the UK. Their total output can be obtained from the tables in the link below. Table 5.4 gives fuel use in millions of tonnes of oil equivalent
Around 15 percent is the latest I think
The Sun's energy comes from nuclear fusion where hydrogen is slammed together with so much force that 4 hydrogen atoms will fuse together to form one helium atom. Nuclear fusion releases incredible amounts of heat energy. Other larger stars fuse the heavier elements when they collapse and then explode. This is called a super nova.
Because we are using energy that is already there. Normally to make power we need a heat source to boil water and use the steam to move turbines to make power. Geothermal energy uses the energy that is already there deep in the earth vs burning coal, gas, or nuclear fuel.
It is the only sustainable energy that we have. There are only two valid sources of any energy, fossil fuels and nuclear. With less then a 1000 years of oil left, we know fossil fuels will end. Nuclear is also much cleaner. Those that do not understand climate and CO2 also worry about CO2 emissions. The only fuel that produces zero CO2 is nuclear. Most countries have determined that nuclear is a valid source of power. France brags about how green they are. This is because they are over 90% nuclear.
nuclear power is going to be around for much longer, more fission reactors will be built to compensate in the increase in energy usage and more research is being done to make fusion energy which will replace fission reactors(this is quite a while yet before fusion reactors can be used to produce use usable energy for long periods of time).
The air conditioner itself does not release any carbon or carbon dioxide. But if the energy to power the air conditioner comes from a coal fired power plant, it takes more energy to reduce the temperature of a room than it does to heat it.
Indiana has no nuclear power plants.
No. Much of their power comes from coal.
There are no nuclear power plants in that province
Nuclear power, atomic power used to be the term used but is now not used so much.
Lots of energy to power cities for YEARS
3/4
1800 MWe
The average efficiency of a nuclear power station is about 33%, measured as the ratio of power electric over power thermal.
Nuclear power accounts for 6.3% of world's total primary energy supply or 16% of world's total electricity production.
10000mw
For electricity production, just under 20 percent
In the United states About 20 percent of the total electricity used. In Australia on the other hand none of the power comes from NE.
