In Tamil Chennai, it is common for women to wear wedding rings as a symbol of their marital status. However, it is not as common for men to wear wedding rings in this region. The choice to wear a wedding ring can vary among individuals and couples.

Yet still some widowed women are still grieving and want to leave their wedding rings on for awhile until she feels comfortable enough to put her wedding rings away for safe keeping and then strikes out into her future as a single woman. Some women may hope to get married again and many do whether they are in their 50s up. There are many widowers or divorced men out there that are lonely as well. Other widowed women feel they loved their husbands so much and will never take the rings off and prefer not to get married again. It is the individual widowed woman's choice.

Men do not traditionally wear engagement rings as they only wear wedding rings, it is only women that wear engagement rings. However, I would assume that this would be the ring finger, the same as women which is the left hand, next to the little finger.
Women are supposed to wear the wedding band, followed by the engagement ring after they are married. The rings normally come in a set and are made to be worn together. Some women though only wear their wedding band as their engagement ring may be too much or bulky on the finger with both of them. It is a personal preference though.
