∙ 7y agoHPV is an extremely common virus that causes warts of all kinds -- warts on the hands, feet, and genitals, among other locations. Most people have had HPV at some point in their lives. Prevalence rates in a US study from 2003-2006 suggests that 42.5% of women aged 14-59 have genital HPV (see related link for reference).
HPV is also the primary cause of several types of cancer, although not everyone with HPV will get cancer.
