I'll use Final Fantasy XIII as an example. It sold about 7.19 million units globaly. If you divide that by the total world population of roughly 7.157 Billion people you get a percentage of about 0.1%. So, basically a very small percentage of the world plays final fantasy.
an esper is a different type of species used in Final Fantasy games. They are usually called summons, and can be summoned in or outside of battle in the Final Fantasy universe. Espers coexist with the humans in the Final Fantasy world, usaully peacefully.

No, All final fantasy games are different. if you pick up final fantasy 7 and then get final fantasy 8, there's going to be a change in: characters, time zones, worlds, etc. the only real thing that's the same is the magic system. spells like fira, firaga, thundara, etc. are found throughout all the games. If you're new to final fantasy, i suggest you play final fantasy 7. it is the top rated ff in the world!Final Fantasy 7 has a storyline followed through by several games, on multiple platforms.Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-II are the only games in the series to be direct sequels; the 7Compilation is more of a focus shift.
The Best Villain in my opinion, as a villain not a character would have to be Kefka, because, he unlike any other final fantasy game, succeeded in his goal, destroying the world.
Final Fantasy 7 Black Label Misprint
