The PBY was by far the most famous. Although, both US & IJN battleships and cruisers had scout planes (reconnaissance planes) stored on board their warships for artillery spotting (to adjust gunfire). These aircraft were equipped with pontoons; they were catapulted off, then after returning they were lifted back on board again by a shipboard crane.

British planes made couple of raids against Petsamo and its harbour Liinahamari (Barents Sea) in July 1941. Attacks were mainly against German troops in the area. Petsamo had nickelmine which was important for Germans. Petsamo was in Finland during WWII but were taken by Russia after the war.
World War I is considered to be a global conflict because its hostilities involved nations from around the world and occurred on the majority of the world's continents, including most of its major waterways. While the bulk of the fighting took place in Europe, battles on land and sea were fought in and around Africa, near the Americas, and in portions of Asia and the Pacific.
Air, land and sea were the types of battles fought in World War 2. They used ships, subs, boats, tanks, large weapons and infantry weapons, fighter planes and bomber planes.

The were used for reconnaissance bombing, ground support, ASW patrol, transportation, Air/Sea rescue, torpedo planes, Bomber/fighter interceptors and as fighters.
The dieppe plan was used in world war 2. It was a plan in which all three means of transportation was used. It was Air (the allied planes), Waters (the sea ships that brought in soldiers) and land (where the soldiers fought the battle.)
World war 2 was by far more lethal. World War 1 did not have the artillery, new guns, aircraft carriers and planes of the 40s, the Atomic Bombs, Napalm Bombs, missiles, flying bombs, larger bomber planes, large tonnage bombs, and all the new vehicles and sea vessels they had in World War 2. World War 1 also did not have 50 - 70 million people world wide die from injuries, exposure, disease, starvation, murder and drowning.
Sea planes might be found at small airports near water. There aren't too many left. Sea planes were used a lot before WWII, when there weren't too many airports. WWII led to the building of airports all over the world, so sea planes all but faded away. You might have better luck looking for a sea plane in a museum instead of at an airport.
