What African countries are African Americans from?

Because of the horrors of slavery and dehumanization of African Americans' ancestors many haven't a record of their family line and connection to where they are truly from. Some say parts of West Africa, based on DNA, but not all are entirely trusting of that.

Can white people from Africa be African American?

Yes. There are many African Americans with extremely light and fair skin. Many people of African lineage are so fair that they have lived in the white world and their friends and sometimes family have no idea they have African heritage. There have been some very interesting documentaries produced on the topic. Modern DNA testing has shown that most African Americans have European ancestors which was, in most cases, not by choice. Passing as white has always been a way for light skinned African Americans to gain opportunities that would otherwise be denied. There are stories of slaves who escaped slavery because they could pass as white. See related link.

What happened during the first decade of the 1800 that caused increasing tensions with native Americans?

Native Americans were renewing their contacts with British agents and fur traders in Canada. Hoped this helps you. Trying to make them some they weren't that s why you hear about he five civilized tribe because the the five took in Europeans and took on their ways. All the other tribes who didn't conform and and didn't have treaties with the U.S were not recognized this paper genocide We were already here before any African or Europeans or Mongoloid came.. The Mongoloids are the only ones who can claim native because they were here before Europeans but they can't say that they are indigenous only the American negro aka "Black" aka misnomer "African American". You see those white people(you) on the Indian reservation (agencies) the so called natives on the agencies are mixed with our Negro ancestors, some with Asians and some with European and some of them are just straight Europeans or just straight Asians. Only the (misnomered) "Negro" looking straight haired Indians descend from us…Or share our blood. Which is why DNA test report us sharing blood with them, and it doesn't mean we have their blood in us, it's the other way around. So, when dealing with 23andMe, who only uses 1 (yes only 1) north American mixed-mongoloid/aboriginal tribe to compare us to, which are the Pima, says we have up to 2% (some cases higher) of"Native-American" blood. Its the biggest hoax out when you base "Native-American" ancestry on being from one tribe, and a mix tribe at that. The oldest indigenous people are Negroid, the mongoloid population they sample for "native Americans" are not the ancestors of 'black" Americans. I am not talking about Africans. People think negro means African, but negro does not mean Africans. We are not African. And no we didn't come from Africa because of some stupid out of Africa theory which is a theory - a poor theory. check out African American aint African Facebook. 1828 definition of American facebook

What were the relationship between Native Americans and African Americans in the West during the Civil War and Reconstruction?

from ƝɨѕhҠѡe on yahoo answers:In the 1800's -1900's there was little understanding between Native Americans and African Americans.Firstly because generally Native Americans were an unknown population just as they are today, and African Americans were not able to freely form friendships/relationships with people outside their local area/residence. So basically they had very little contact.Secondly anywhere the 3 populations (Black, White and Native) were in close proximity, the White settlers tried to create friction between the Blacks and the Natives. For example in some areas (southern coastal US) Native Americans where paid to recapture runaway slaves. Which they did to prevent their people from being taken by the slave traders. Most people are unaware that there was an active trade in Native Americans slaves in the US. Regiments of African Americans soldiers were used to hunt and kill Native Americans. The Native Americans called them Buffalo Soldiers. The friction was created between the African Americans and Native Americans because the settlers feared if the African Americans and Native Americans united they would outnumber the White settlers and would wipe them out in an uprising. The story of Native Americans protecting African Americans slaves is not entirely true. Historically like today, Native American society did not have the "concept of difference" based on race or skin color. Difference based on skin color is a Euro concept. Tribes often extended tribal hospitality to both African American and White people who chose to reside with the tribe.Secondly the story that Native Americans protected runaway slaves and intermarried was promoted by African Americans to explain why some didn't look fully African American. It was seen as somewhat better to be part Native American than to be part White. That's why today some African Americans believe they have Native American blood, even though DNA has proven only about 2.9% African Americans actually have Native American blood..4 months ago (10-09-2011)
