A prayer of blessings and thanks is said over each meal. The Angelus is said three times a day except for the Easter season when the Regina Caeli replaces it until Ascension. Traditionally church bells rang the Angelus morning noon and night, tolling three times during each response and than pealing for the duration of the final prayer. Hearing the bells people would cease from work in order to pray along. There are accounts of pious kings on horseback, when hearing the bells come over the hills, dismounting from their horses and praying in the road with their entourage.

The Angelus:

P: The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary

R: And she conceived of the Holy Ghost

Hail Mary...(full prayer)

P: Behold the handmaid of the Lord

R: Be it done unto me according to thy word

Hail Mary...

P: And the word was made flesh

R: And dwelt amongst us

Hail Mary...

P: Pray for us O holy Mary Mother God

R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

P: Let us pray

R: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, though the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
