The White House Putting Green lies a short walk outside the Oval Office door to the southeast. A putting green was first installed by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1954 with help from the United States Golf Association and private donations. Eisenhower was a very avid golfer and was sometimes criticized for it, but he and his doctor readily defended the habit as good for his health, which had suffered during his presidency.
Eisenhower had a putting green outside the Oval Office in the White House. He also had a sand trap put in. I believe Bill Clinton had it restored or else got a new one put in.

The president is not part of the White House. The White House is where the US President lives -- it is a building. People sometimes say "The White House" to refer to the President or the people on his staff who speak or act on his behalf.
