Lyndon Baines Johnson created a controversy by holding his dogs by their ears. He was in office from 1963 until 1969.
Lyndon Johnson had a pair of dogs named Him and Her. There was a flap in press about his pulling on their ears, maybe picking them up by their ears.
The ears usually go up. Or if they are asleep, their whole head goes up.

Lyndon B Johnson had two beagles. The famous picture of him picking one of his dogs up by its ears hurt him politically.
New Answer:Yes, cats can, because they can pick up higher frequences than dogs. Usually, dogs sniff out their food, while cats use hearing to pinpoint theirs. (If it is alive, otherwise cats wouldn't be able to hear their food bowls.)Original Answer:Yes, cats don't have drooped ears and they can swivel their ears in any direction sound is coming from.Yes, cats don't have drooped ears and they can swivel their ears in any direction sound is coming from.this is untrue because there are dogs that have pricked ears that hear better than cats and dogs that have drooped ears are fantastic sniffer dogs and can lift there ears up to hear things but arent as good hearers as the other dogs and drooped ears are good for keeping water out of their ears.YOU PROBABLY DONT EVEN HAVE DOGS. SO HOW WOULD YOU KNOW!(?)

The ability of a dogs ears to stand upright is dependent on the muscles and form of their ear. Some dogs ears flop over, some are upright, some flop over only at the tips and some have one that flops and one that stands.
Not all domestic dogs have floppy ears that go down. Many domestic dogs including retreivers (Golden, labrador, duck-tolling and flat-coated retreivers) and some species of wiener dog (also called a dashund) have long floppy ears. But some other domestic dogs including huskies and german sheperds have ears that are pointed and go right up like a cat's.
You cannot make a dogs ears change their natural stance. The cartilage in their ears can only control that and it depends on the breed.
No it is recessive if you notice most of the dogs ancestors like the wolf or the coyote there ears stick straight up.
The same frequency wave as a fire alarm.
