Possibly the new thermostat is bad...........don't laugh it can happen. I'm not sure if you could have installed it upside down. Sometimes that is possible but I am not familiar with your specific engine application.
The spring goes towards the engine block.
If you look at the bottom of the thermostat you will see the spring wrapped around the valve that goes up & down to open & close the thermostat. The spring is made from heat sensitive metal and is what opens and closes the thermostat as it expands & contracts. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the spring will not be in the coolant and will not open until it gets hotter than the specified temp of the thermostat and could cause overheating problems and coolant flow issues.
sounds like you installed new thermostat upside down if that's not the problem, you have wrong or faulty new thermostat to test thermostat out of vehicle, place in pot of boiling water and watch to see if thermostat opens
it is not a thermostat problem is an actuator located under the dash that lets the water pass through the heater core, all these cars got the same problem dude good luck... Possible the thermostat installed upside down. Spring goes toward engine. Also may be air in the system. Bleed the cooling system with the heater set to hot. The heater core may also be stopped up.
either you are not using correct thermostats,or putting them in upside down,or thermostat is NOT the problem
you might have installed it upside down or the new thermostat might be defective or the wrong temperature range it could also be something unrelated, possibly a blown fuse
Too many steps and little things you should know. Spend $10 and buy a repair manual for your car at any auto Parts Store. You have two choices, Hayne's or Chilton's. A rookie can do this with the proper guidance. Get the manual and go for it. answer to remove thermostat dump coolant from engine remove top radiator hose from where it attaches to engine remove fitting, generally 2 or 3 bolts, where radiator hose attached this is called thermostat housing u will then see thermostat take notice of how the thermostat is seated as sometimes they can be installed upside down, upside down will not work correctly so then install proper temp new thermostat and new gasket reinstall thermostat housing' reattach radiator hose. refill engine and radiator with coolant start engine ,check for leaks if no leaks, job well done is easier than it sounds
Could be the thermostat is upside-down, or maybe the thermostat needs to be replaced. Could also be air in the system.
If the engine coolant is not circulating then there will bee no heat, and the temp sensor may or may not read hot. Make sure that the new thermostat is working and not installed upside down, as this is easy to do.
The thermostat is located where the upper hose from the radiator attaches to the engine block. The two bolts or screws holding it, are through the flange of the thermostat. Since it also fits upside down, observe how the thermostat is located in the block opening before replacing it with the new one.
The valve is at the front of the engine just behind the A/C Compressor. Its just above the thermostat. Be careful as for some unknown reason GM has designed this valve without polarity. It can be installed upside down which will yield less than impressive results. Where is the EGR valve located on a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer with a vortec engine?
