What problems did Eve cause for women when she ate the apple?

She gained knowledge, and knew the difference between good and evil. She wanted her husband to have the knowledge as well, so she offered fruit from the tree to him as well. After that, Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden, and had to work and learn in order to survive, rather than having it relatively easy in the Garden. Some people think that this was a total loss for the entire human race and some people think it helped us overall to grow and learn.

She disobeyed Gods orders by eating the apple in the first place. It was basically said that she sinned. Both Adam and Eve ended up facing the consequences of what they have done by being removed from the Garden of Eden.

Eve did nothing to hurt women. The apple and Eve story is a myth and like all myths it sought to tell a story and teach a lesson: Women are bad news. It was meant to denigrate women for all times and place them in an inferior position to men. The Eve story was used by mankind to justify the mistreatment of women, the denial of their human rights and to enslave them for centuries. It led to the treatment of women as second class citizens, the appropriation of their property by their husbands and brothers, the loss of their right to their children, their legal non-existence and a host of other evils and exploitations. Women still have no legal status in many countries that lie in the "land of The Bible". The myth did its job.

However, like all those old man-made religious stories it is contradictory in and of itself. It's actually very amusing: Eve is labeled a repulsive creature for seeking knowledge and for being a temptress. Actually, Eve was the very first feminist. She refused to be provided for like a child, and refused to be told what to do and how to act, without explanation, by a father figure. Instead, she sought knowledge. Eve should rather be viewed as a hero having initiated the escape of humanity from a prison in which they would be destined to remain children. The belief that a loving father would condemn his children to lives of pain and toil forever simply for seeking knowledge is irrational.

Adam followed orders mindlessly and didn't ask questions. Tragically, the thought of freely seeking knowledge is still repulsive to and banned by many religious sects. And curiously . . . women have always been held responsible for the unbridled and uncontrolled sexual urgings of men in patriarchal societies. They have been punished for it rather than burdening the men with controlling their own behavior.

Unfortunately the Eve myth affected the experience of women in every corner of the world until the late twentieth century when feminism broke its chokehold on women, at least in the Western World. Unfortunately, our sisters in the more tribal and primitive Eastern cultures still bear its burden and injustices.
