Safety pins have been used since 1849 when Walter Hunter designed what we know today as the safety pin. Let see what have I used it for?

I used safety pins and beads to make an American Flag to wear on a coat.

Attach a name tag to a piece of clothing.

Clip a note on a young child's shirt for the teacher.

I keep fabric samples on one to take to shops when I "need more fabric."

I've been know to use it to hold up a hem, don't tell anyone!

Keep a stubborn blouse closed. This was before snaps came in plastic on an adhesive backing.

Hold my tartan skirt together! Important when the wind is blowing!

Diapers before plastic, Velcro etc. or if you use cloth diapers.

Hold the "quilt sandwich" together
