Some Islamic countries, which lie reasonably close to the Equator, call the sunrise of each day "6 o'clock" and reset their watches to keep time on that basis. The variation between "true" time and Islamic time is not that great in the course of an ordinary day's activities, but it could make a difference if one was trying to do something that required great temporal precision, such as observe an eclipse.
