Good A levels that are relevent to the occupation first of all! Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics exc. will certainly help.
7 Years in Medical school studying a wide range of human science, particuarly focusing around the brain and spine (obviously), 2 of the years are spent in basic medical training with the further five fixated on Neurology.
I completed my medicine course almost six years ago now, I'm 28 and earning in the region of £226,000 annualy. I can expect a salary around £300,000 ($620,000) by 2015.
