In the King James version....

The word "pounds" only appears five times.....

* Luk 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. * Luk 19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. * Luk 19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. * Luk 19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. * Luk 19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) The word "pound" only appears ten times..... I have highlighted below the only mention of the word "seven" in the same verse as "pound".

As to the use of the phrase "of flesh", it only occurs 11 times.... none of those refer to any quantities of flesh.

# Lev 17:14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. # 2 Sam 6:19 And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. Or seest thou as man seeth? # Pro 23:20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: # Eze 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: # Eze 16:26 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger. # Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. # 1 Cor 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. # Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

How can the Bible make the claim that two shall become one flesh?

The Bible can make the claim that two shall become one flesh because it does not mean it literally. It means that the two people will work together and be on the same page when making decisions.Jewish answer:The traditional interpretation of this phrase (Genesis ch.2) is that the husband and wife become one flesh in their children (Rashi commentary, ibid), since the flesh of the children is made possible by what both the husband and wife contributed.

Origin of seven pounds of flesh?

The Merchant of Venice, by William Shakespeare.

What does 'a pound of flesh' mean?

There actually is no such phrase. People using it are confusing the phrase "a pound of flesh" from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice with the title of the 2008 Will Smith movie "Seven Pounds" In the Shakespeare play the pound of flesh is the penalty for defaulting on a loan. You default on your mortgage and the bank gets your arm. The Will Smith movie is not about defaulting on a loan, but about making up for your mistakes. In the film Smith's character must help seven people to make up for the seven people he accidentally killed.

What does the bible say to do about a marriage with no sex?

No word on this. But the Bible does say that the married man and woman are now "one flesh". (Ephesians 5.31)

Why the title seven pounds?

The title "7 pounds" is derived from the expression "pound of flesh" which in its original meaning refers to a terrible burden or debt which has to be repaid by whatever mean. Originated in Shakespeare's play Merchant of Venice, 1596. In this case Will Smith's character feels that he has to pay a pound of flesh for each of the seven lifes lost in the car accident for which he felt that he caused. I could be wrong on this matter but I do believe that maximum amount of weight human organs could be donated is around 7 pound.
