Many faiths were instrumental in the polital evolution. Undoubtedly many Quakers as in PennsylvanniaI were influential as were Catholics. in Maryland. Anglicans would have made up the majority balance based on Immigration from northern Germany the Lutherans had a role beginning in New Sweden. Generally absent were non Christians and non-Trinitarians.

Spanish influence was extremely strong in the Philippines during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Some French colonies had strong independence movements.
Because the original colonists were from the Netherlands and most chose to remain in the New World and elected to remain there after England took charge of Dutch colonies. They became loyal Englishmen for economic reasons.

Barcelona is in Spain, which is a primarily Catholic country. There is, however, a strong historical and cultural influence of Islam in Spain, particularly in the South.
Belgium is a predominantly secular country, and it has no official religion. There is a strong influence from the Roman Catholic church, and many other religions are also practiced.
