Many Hindu religions use it as a part of their sacred or important writings, and is a primary foundation of the Vedantic schools of Hinduism.

O.K. Here we are again with 'many Hindu religions'...please understand the term "Hindu"

was a made-up word the English colonists used to (in it's first instance) describe in 19th

century India the peoples living west of the Sindhus river, simply a contraction of syllables

leads to this "Hindu" word which now misguided ethnologists are happy to use as bona-fide nomenclature! Worship of Krsna, or Vishnu as He is also known is the sum and

substance of the Bhagavad Gita and such persons who worship Sri Krsna are called

Vaisnavas. " Vedantic schools of Hinduism"?? This is completely backwards! The words

'Vedanta' and 'Bhagavad' and 'Gita' are our English translations of sanscrit writing, there

is NO 'Hindu' in the sanscrit language, thus it is Vedanta being taught, not "Hinduism".

Personally, I mean no disrespect to denizens of India who have for centuries had to

bear this English terminology and my teacher A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami was very clear

on this point that we must re-educate these so-called scholars who are themselves

Indian and have forgotton their true history.
