An ethnic religion is a religion that appeals to a specific group of people in a specific area of the world. Twenty five percent of the worlds population is in an ethnic religion. The other 70 percent are either in a uuniversalizing religion or have no religion at all.

Any religion can be non-ethnic, but Christianity is probably the most diversely practiced religion. I have seen Christians from just about any and every background.

Islam is also a religion which transcends ethnicity, with adherents from all continents and races.
