Previously India was a completely Hindu with small populations of buddhists country. But later, the Muslims invaded and destroyed the Hindu temples and were able to establish settlements and lived there.

The most ancient religion originated in India is 'Sanatan-Dharm', which is also known as Vaidik-Dharm; now called as Hinduism. The other religions; Buddhism, Jainism or Khalsa... all are the branches of the root-religion 'Sanatan' religion.
