A turtles shell is a form of armor; it makes it very hard for a predator to bite the turtle.
They bite. They also have a protective shell that they can draw back into.

It's sort of both because they snap or bite like a crocodile, and it has croc ridges on it's shell. It's like a turtle because it has a shell like a turtle and can tuck into it's shell like a turtle. so a Crocodile Snapping Turtle is a mix of a turtle and a crocodile.
So that for example, when the turtle is swimming, a shark comes close. The shark loves Turtle meat so it tries to grab it. The turtle terrifies and so, fall back into it's shell. The shell is hard enough that Shark can't bite through and small enough that Shark can't get in. After sometimes, the Shark would lose interest and go away. The turtle comes out and lives his life.
A turpin watch out they bite!
the advantages of a shell is that if something tries to bite you then it cant because the shell is to hard
It is not recommended because soft shell turtles have little protection, and seem to have a "bite me" sign on them. If you do happen to get another turtle, you would have to do plenty of babysitting.
swim, bite, eat fish/plankton, surf, get killed and you can eat turtle soup out of the shell made of the body, bounce the real question is "what can't a green sea turtle do?"
Yes, sometimes. Reptiles in general are not cuddly like cats and dogs are. Turtles especially do not seem to like being held, and will sometimes bite your fingers to get you to drop them. My turtle tries especially hard to bite me whenever I wipe the gunk off her shell, and then rub shell-cream into it.
the only way to know that is to see if it is going to bite anything... get a stick and put it softy on its nose and if it does not bite the stick then it is not going to bite you...but to make sure...pick it up by the back of the shell...just in case; at least for awhile.
