Kaw Nation was finally settled in eastern Oklahoma after having hundreds of thousands of land in western Missouri and most of Kansas. The land was confiscated by at least 3 treaties with the US Government, with the Kaw getting the worst end of any treaty.

What is a ta na e ka?

It is the name of a fake Kaw native American ceremony invented by someone pretending to be a native American, calling herself Mary Whitebird, in a very poorly written book. Everything about it is false and pure imagination. It has nothing at all to do with the real Kaw tribe or Kaw religion and is nothing but nonsense - such stories should by law have to carry a prominent warning that they are fiction and do not reflect genuine native traditions.

The kaw Indians?

Kaw Indians ate and hunted Buffalo in the plains. As well as Buffalo they hunted bison, Elk and Antelope.

Where did ta na e ka take place?

It didn't. It is the name of a fake Kaw (Kansa) native American ceremony invented by someone pretending to be a native American, calling herself Mary Whitebird, in a very poorly written book. Everything about it is false and pure imagination. It has nothing at all to do with the real Kaw tribe or Kaw religion and is nothing but nonsense - such stories should by law have to carry a prominent warning that they are fiction and do not reflect genuine native traditions.

Where did the name Kansas come from?

The State of Kansas is named after the Kansas River which flows through it, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native American tribe, which inhabited the area. The tribe's name (natively kką:ze) is often said to mean "people of the wind" or "people of the south wind," although this was probably not the term's original meaning.

Can an American Indian become president?

They can if they were born a US citizen ("native born"), are at least 35 years old and have lived in the US for 14 years. Specifically, while Native American reservations are considered sovereign soil for many purposes of US Law, for determination of US citizenship, they are no different than any US state territory. The requirements for Native Americans to be President are no different than any other US citizen.Charles Curtis (January 25, 1860 - February 8, 1936) the 31st Vice President of the United States (1929-1933) was a Kaw Nation Native American Indian. On his mother's side, Curtis was a descendant of the chiefs White Plume of the Kaw and Pawhuska of the Osage. From his mother, Curtis first learned French and Kansa. As a boy lived with his mother and her family on the Kaw reservation. In 1902 when the Kaw tribe was disbanded by the federal government, as enrolled tribal members, Curtis (and his three children) received about 1,625 acres (6.6 km²) of Kaw land in Oklahoma. Before he was Vice President, he was a United States Senator from Kansas from 1907 to 1913 and then 1915 to 1929.
