This depends. If Santa had eight reindeer, and they were spread over seven fields, then he would still have eight reindeer. If Santa had eight reindeer on each field, and he had seven fields, then this is a simple multiplication problem=8*7=56. He would have fifty-six reindeer.
There were eight tiny reindeer in the original poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", also known as "The Night Before Christmas." Each has four hooves so that would make 32 hooves. A hundred and some years later, in an advertising story for Montgomery Ward department stores stores, Rudolph appeared. Some now feel he's officially become one of Santa's reindeer. So if you count him there are four more making a total of 36 hooves.
The question is unclear as many people use "hoof" differently. Some use it to mean the entire foot, while others use it to mean just the toes. Reindeer have 2 large toes and 2 small toes on each foot. If you are using "hooves" to mean feet, they each have four, just as any other reindeer would. Total, that's 32 hooves, unless you count Rudolph, which would make it 36. If you mean hoof as a modified nail at the end of a toe, then if you count Rudolph, then there would be 144 hooves.. Reindeer have four toes on each foot, and each toe ends in a nail. Thus each reindeer has 16 hooves. The only animals which have only four hooves per animal are equines, who have only one toe per foot.
The reindeers' names are from the 1823 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" ("The Night Before Christmas"). The reindeer are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. Children often memorize this poem, with each of the reindeer in order.

As a reindeer Rudolph would be expected to eat pretty much the same things as other reindeer. Reindeer mainly eat lichens in winter, especially reindeer moss [yes - that's really what it is called] - a unique adaptation among mammals - and they are the only animals except for some gastropods (snails and slugs) in which the enzyme lichenase, which breaks down lichenin (moss starches) to glucose, has been found. They also eat the leaves of willows and birches, sedges, and grasses when available. There is some evidence to suggest that on occasion, especially in the spring when other food is in extremely short supply, they will also feed on small rodents such as lemmings, fish and bird eggs. Reindeer herded by the Eskimos in eastern Russia have been known to devour mushrooms enthusiastically in late summer. ============================================================ Ummmm......I hope you know that he isn't real. So he eats whatever you want him to.
Well, at Santa's Workshop the Santa's elves feed each one their favorite treats...uncooked oatmeal!!! So, on Christmas Eve ask your parent(s) if it is okay to throw some uncooked oatmeal on your lawn! Oh, and to make sure Santa's reindeer see the oatmeal you could put some glitter in it also. P.S. It's okay if they don't eat ALL of your scrumpcitous food.
A reindeer is a type of deer that is found in Arctic and Subarctic regions. Some reindeer will migrate up to twice each year and travel a distance of approximately 750 miles each time.
This last year Norad had over 117,000 people tracking Santa this last Christmas. Norad brought more people in because of their new Live Reindeer cam and videos each child gets to view from where Santa had just visited.
I do not think they mean anything
