Guatemala gained its independence from Spain in 1821, and formed a federation known as the United Provinces of Central America. This led to civil war and revolution. The revolution was lead by Rafael Carrera, the country's military leader. In 1871, the country had a Liberal Revolution which was led by Justo Rufino Barrios.
He called it the "Revolution of 1800." It really was a revolution. It was the removing of the Federalists from presidency and Jefferson's leadership led to many great movements in the United States
