Judaism plays a role much like Christianity, Islam, or Hinduism as a religion.

Judaism isn't practiced as widely as Christianity, I guess because there wasn't as much spreading, and I guess the crusades helped Christianity spread a lot faster.

A number of people practice Judaism in the United States, but it is a minority compared to Christianity.

But, unless you want more elaboration such as the subject of Israel, the main role Judaism plays in society today is that of a practiced religion.

Jewish Answer:

One of the main roles that Judaism plays in society is to make the world a better place. This concept is called Tikkun Olam.
