In many nations governments have tried to act to curtail the use of fossil fuels. This is done through a variety of measures, such as carbon taxes or credit trading schemes. These efforts are laudable, but without the cooperation of the primary polluters--the US, China, and India, the efforts won't be nearly as successful as they could be.

The US government adopted a sort of "let's wait and see if the past twenty years of climate research won't be upended by new results in the next twenty years" approach, delaying critical action. Though in just the past few years our effort to reduce CO2 emissions has succeeded in a small decline. Much more yet needs to be done.

What role do governments have in controlling global warming?

The key role of the government in controlling global warming is to provide leadership in bringing about change. Unfortunately, some governments do not have the political will to provide leadership just when it is needed most.

What is the role of gasoline in global warming?

Gasoline is one of the fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), the burning of which is causing global warming. Carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, rises into the atmosphere where it traps heat.

What is man's role in global warming?

Humans are responsible for serious deforestation as well as the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). Climate scientists agree that this is what is causing global warming and climate change.

Is the acceleration of global warming due to changes in the reflection and absorption of sunlight?

The albedo effect, characterised by changes in the reflection and absorption of sunlight, does play a small role in global warming, but requires global warming to be underway before it can play that part. As the world warms, ice caps and sea ice melt. Ice reflects much of the sun's energy back into space, but when the ice disappears the open sea and land absorb much of the sun's energy, becoming warmer. This accelerates global warming.

How do endangered species affect global warming?

Endangered species play a role in mitigating global warming through natural processes. For example, forests inhabited by endangered species absorb carbon dioxide, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, certain endangered species may help maintain the balance of ecosystems, which in turn support carbon sequestration. Preserving endangered species is crucial in sustaining these processes and combating global warming.

Who should play a role in controlling the factors that cause global warming?

Everyone can reduce release of Greenhouse Gases. Mostly, cut down on how much energy you use.

By spreading water

How do kids play a role in global warming?

kids must be taught regarding global warming, so that they are not only gain awareness but also work for its counter implementations.

What role do cities play in global warming?

Cities and the people in them play a large role in global warming. Heating, cooling and transport in the cities use massive amounts of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). When fossil fuel is burnt it releases carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases that are causing global warming.

What role does Polar ice do for the earth?

It provides a habitat for polar bears, an iconic creature for global warming. The ice also acts as a serious reflector of solar radiation (the albedo effect), slowing the speed of global warming.

What is Global Warming and its role in air quality?

Global Warming is the slow heating up of the earth. Bad air quality can lead to the destruction of the ozone layer, allowing more dangerous rays to enter Earth's atmosphere.

What are the importance of plants to save ozone layer?

Plants have a special role in saving ozone layer. They take up carbon dioxide, which prevents global warming. Because of this prevention of global warming the ozone depletion is also decreased.

Trees play important roles in preventing global warming blank absorbing carbon dioxide and pumping water into the atmosphere?

Trees play an important role in global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide and pumping oxygen into the atmosphere.

What role does human activity play in the current global warming trend?
