Likely, very little. The ebb and flow of history saw the rise and fall of many empires, including one day the United States. Possibly our current economic woes, and absurd rates of debt and economic discredit before the rest of the world are the beginning of the death throes for the empire that is the United State, or perhaps not. But the power of the United States is clearly eclipsed, and already in the process of occurring by the power that is now the European Union and in final form will be a "revived" Roman Empire. Its possible we will be greatly weakened there fore to the status of third world or splintered states comprising weaker smaller countries that once was the United States.

In the tribulation there are Four primary players or powers. One is the kingdom or empire of the Antichrist which will be a revived version of the Roman Empire which includes most of Western Europe (the EU) and all the nations around the Mediterranean Ocean! This will be the top world power during the tribulation.

Second will be an alliance of Russia, Iran and several Islamic nations not included in this revived Roman Empire of the Anti Christ. This alliance of nations is spoke of in Ezekiel 38-39, where Ezekiel names the people groups as they were known by in his day, which today correspond to the peoples of which the modern day nations of Russia with many of its ex Soviet Union era satellite countries, and Iran, Libya, Arabia, and possibly Turkey and Germany. This Confederation of nations, attempting to invade Israel, suffer a 90 percent loss of all their armed forces, when right before the 2nd half of the 7 year tribulation, their armies are supernaturally - through natural catastrophe- destroyed by God, north of Jerusalem.

There is also an African Union of armies, an Asiatic alliance of China, India etc, called the "Kings of the East" in Revelations that field a 200 million man army! That march on Israel, down the way of a the bed of the dried up Euphrates River, with the armies of the Anti Christ onto the planes of Megiddo where they are destroyed by God at the battle, or rather the "campaign" of Armageddon.

AnswerAs America is not mentioned in the Bible AT ALL, and all of the Bible is written from the focus of Israel, it would appear that by this time America will be too weak and insignificent to play any role. (At the time of writing this 'Answer' some sources expect the collapse of the American Dollar and thus of the US economy within 6-12 months ie April-October 2011.)

Answer:

America will not be a power, soon. As is already visible... she will be "divided" and conquered from within through her forsaking of God. "We are no longer a Christian nation," says our president and national leader -- for God and all the nations of the world to hear.

We will join Britain and Israel in war, starvation and finally, "captivity," when the global economy finally collapses, the "Beast and False Prophet" rise to "satanic" power [Rev.13], and the "global governance," being sought by the nations of the world today, comes to fruition.

Another Viewpoint:

For such a big nation and one that has done so much, whether good or bad on the world stage to not be mentioned in Bible prophecy cannot be so. On the contrary, I believe America is quite clearly mentioned in Bible prophecy. More specifically the prophecy of Revelation 13.

There are two beasts in Revelation 13. One that rises up out of the "sea" and one out of the "earth". Now we know from Daniel 7 that beasts in Bible prophecy represent nations. So these two beasts of Revelation 13 are nations. And they are the two nations that will play vital roles in last day events, ie, enforcing the mark of the beast.

Now Revelation 17:15 tells us that the "waters" represent "peoples, nations, and tongues". So the first beast of Revelation 13 rises up from a very populated area like Europe. But the second beast is quite the opposite. It rises up out of the "earth". Which would denote a complete opposite of rising up from a populated area. So this beasts must rise up out of a wilderness, unpopulated area. This matches America.

The beast also has two horns like a "lamb" but speaks like a dragon. Does this match America? Yes! Who is represented as a lamb in the Bible? Jesus Christ. Therefore this nation would be a "Christian" nation, but would end up speaking like a dragon. This matches America perfectly.

ANSWER

The Bible does not mention America, but the size or importance of a nation is irrelevant as to whether it is mentioned in prophecy or not. The Bible's prophecies are 'Israel-centric' : that is, things are only mentioned if they relate to Israel in some way. Because America's leaders have rejected the God of Israel and follow other gods [small 'g'] instead, then God has therefore rejected America.

1 Samuel 8:7 MKJV

(v.7) And Jehovah said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you. For they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them."

I believe that, just as ancient Israel went into captivity because they rejected God, so will those nations of today that have a Christian heritage but are now Laodicean. (And America is not the only such nation: Australia and the UK are not mentioned either) . The Bible does not show America playing any role in the end-times.
