He didn't go there. He did not have asiege train and couldn't invest the city without it and with the Roman army lurking in the hills behind him.
So he concentrated on defeating the Roman army when he could bring it to battle, and trying to turn Rome's Italian allies from it to weaken it.
He obviously took the safest way to not get killed... i think True, but his exact route is unknown. We do know that he traveled by way of Spain and this would necessitate him traveling through Gaul in order to get to Italy. We also know that he crossed the Alps, but exactly where he made his crossing is also unknown.
Hannibal did not get to Rome. He could not attack this city because he lost his siege machines while crossing the Alps to get into Italy in the snowy winter. He won two battles in northern Italy and one in central Italy, quite close to Rome. Then he then marched to southern Italy instead of heading for Rome.
Hannibal took about five and a half months to march from Saguntum (near modern day Valencia, Spain) to Turin in Italy, just past the Alps. This was a 1,600 kilometre (1,000 miles) journey. He fought against the cities of Catalonia, which were allies of Rome, for two months. He had to fight the locals by the river Rhone, in southeastern France, and he was ambushed by locals while ascending the Alps. The descent of the Alps was very difficult as it was snowing, landslides blocked the path at one point and a road was too narrow at another point. Hannibal lost half of his forces, his elephants and his siege machines while crossing the Alps. Nevertheless, this was still an amazing achievement. Nobody thought it was possible to cross the Alps in the winter. The speed of the whole journey was also breath-taking.
He marched, crossed rivers, crossed the Alps and fought several battles.
on the back of the elephants he got the elephants across on rafts covered with grass so that the elephants wouldnt be scard.
Hannibal doesn't like his elephant's!
Please clarify what you mean by elf to room. Also note that Hannibal was not from ancient Rome. He was a Carthaginian.
Hannibal lost his siege machines when he crossed the Alps to get into Italy. Without these machines we could not hope to take a city the size of Rome, which would have had to be starved into submission with a long siege. After travelling from northern to central Italy and winning a battle there, Hannibal headed to the south instead attacking Rome for this reason.
it took 60,000 soldiers, 6,000 horsed, and 37 elephants
Hannibal was not from ancient Rome. He was a Carthaginian. He invaded Italy by crossing the Alps. The exact location of his crossing is not known. It was somewhere on the stretch of the Alss which is now between Italy and France, near the River Rhone
They invaded the empire to take down rome and own that land

Tradition has it that Hannibal had poison hidden in a ring, and had been keeping it with him ever since Rome began pursuing him.

He went through spain, traveled over the Alps, the went into Italy.
It was said that Hannibal wanted to take revenge for Rome seizing the islands of Corsica and Sardinia, which had been Carthaginian possessions, taking advantage of Carthage having to deal with a rebellion of her mercenaries after the Fist Punic War.
Rome sat on top of an uneasy confderation of Italian citiy-states, whose combined power gave Rome ascendancy. Hannibal's strategy was to take the war to Italy and detach as many of these restive Roman subject cities as possible to his own side. He was partly successful and remained a threat in Italy for many years.Rome took fifteen years to wake up, but then retaliated with the same strategy by sending Scipio to Africa with an army to threaten Carthage. Hannibal was recalled to defend Carthage, and was defeated there, ending the Second Punic War.
to invade france easily the Nazi's had to take a less direct route to Paris to capture france directly so to capture france they must've planned ahead of time to devise a strategal plot to go straight in the country with few casualties
Hannibal, one of the greatest generals in history, was a Carthaginian. Carthage is in what is now Tunisia & Algeria. By a roundabout route he invades what is now Italy, from Spain, through southern France & then crosses the Alps, elephants and all ! Great battles ensue, Lake Trasieme most notably Cannae. In due course he is defeated in North Africa by the Roman general Scipio Africanus.
