Most peas do well in wet, cooler weather. although the exact time of year will depend on the type of pea. The traditional green pea is planted in very early, cool weather, or very late in the season. Other peas, such as the black eyed pea, do better in hot weather.
Some people plant peas as early as February. Myself, I prefer to wait until after the last frost ( usually the last week of April or the first week of May, in southern Ontario. When I am planting in the high country in Colorado, I wait until the first week of June. ) Peas will produce all summer long, into autumn.
