Things you can do yourself: Check air pressure manually and recalibrate the sensors (instructions are in the users manual) Seems to be a problematic system, take it back to the dealer for warranty repair if the problem doesn't go away. I got a 2006 and it does the same thing and has been fixed once already but still happens, still love the car... Alternatively, could try rotating the tires and then after recalibration see if the problem moves with the affected tire(s) or if it could be a problem with the central "brain/receiver."

Take it to an authorized GM Dealer. This is not a do it yourself job.
A factory service manual can be invaluable for this type of work.
The low side pressure port for the 1999 Monte Carlo should be on a pipe against the firewall. It is just to the left of the Dipstick.

Try a GM dealer's service center. They should be able to tell you.

i have a 2004 chevy monte carlo and the service engine soon light is on what does it mean?
The service engine soon means the same thing for all cars. It means that you have some trouble with your engine and you should see a mechanic A.S.A.P.
When the tires are rotated, the system needs relearn tire position. This may also be a problem in the system if the warning on the dash says "service tire monitor system". There is a service bulletin to replace a few parts and re-program the system to correct this. - TechJK ------------------------------------ On what Car or truck. I need Year, Make, and Model to answer this! >A friend has a 2002 Monte Carlo where his "low tire pressure" warning has >been showing on his dash display. It only happens each time he has the >tires rotated. First time he had the GM dealer reset the light. All tires >are at the same and correct pressure...any ideas? Yes, this happened to me once. Simply reset the dashboard display after rotating tires. The system works on an imbalanced number of revolutions at the wheel sensor of the ABS. First, make sure that the four tires are identical and have identical pressure. Then reset the display.
The 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is equipped with an evaporative emission system. A purge flow fault can involve a number a single or multiple component problems. There could be a problem a with the purge valve which is relatively easy repair/replacement. The Monte Carlo's OBDII system should be scanned for all codes which will help narrow the condition.
