I'm doing a cell cake...and I am actually using a Swedish Fish (a gummy candy with squiggles on it) to mimic a mitochondrion....
Good luck! Jelly beans work too, I suppose...
I think sugar would because it gives you energy just like the mitochondria!
Mitochondria.
Respiration is the name of the process Mitochondria use.
the mitochondria
It is easier to explain the functions of a cell if I explain the parts of it like they were parts of a city. The mitochondria would be the power plant of a city. It is also the power plant of the cell. The mitochondria coverts food that enters the cell into a form that the cell can use.

Mitochondria are organelles that convert the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient for the cell's use.
If there is no mitochondria in the cell of an organism then there will be no energy in the cell due to the mitochondria being the power house of the cell is absent. Basically, they break down food particles in the cell and turn it into ATP for the body to use.So if there would be no mitochondria there will be no use of eating food.

Chloroplasts and Mitochondria are evolutionary the oldest parts of a cell.

the mitochondria
a cell gets energy from the mitochondria when it use the glucose and the mitochondria changes it into energy
The mitochondria and chloroplasts. The mitochondria makes ATP that is then used in cell processes and chloroplasts use light energy to make carbohydrates that can be used for energy by the cell
