Find a new provider. Many physicians assume that all women want more children (or any at all) and worry that they will regret having a hysterectomy at such a young age. Look for a gynecologist who specializes in endometriosis and might be more sympathetic to the agony of your endo pain.

How likely is it for an 18 year old to have endometriosis?

Endometriosis has been diagnosed in girls as young as 8! So yes, an 18-year-old can have endo. In the past, doctors were taught that only career women got endo. It is important to find the right doctor. The Endometriosis Association can help. Their website is EndometriosisAssn.org. They have materials for teens. There is also information in the book by Mary Lou Ballweg, Endometriosis: The Complete Reference for Taking Charge of Your Health.Girls and women need to know that "killer cramps" are NOT normal and that endo should be considered if they persist.

How do you treat endometriosis?

Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) similar to those that form the inside of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. Endometrial cells are cells that are shed each month during menstruation. The cells of endometriosis attach themselves to tissue outside the uterus and are called endometriosis implants. These implants are most commonly found on the ovaries, the Fallopian tubes, outer surfaces of the uterus or intestines, and on the surface lining of the pelvic cavity. They can also be found in the vagina, cervix, and bladder, although less commonly than other locations in the pelvis. Rarely, endometriosis implants can occur outside the pelvis, on the liver, in old surgery scars, and even in or around the lung or brain. Endometrial implants, while they can cause problems, are benign (not cancerous). Most people will choose to do a surgery to get cured , but , that will leave a scar or the patients will suffer from a lot of pain , the the herbal med Fuyan pill is a very good med , this medicine has applied for a patent. "Fuyan pill" has the function to clear away heat and toxic material. After three months' treatment , all the symptoms can be cleared up and the patients can be pregant after their radical treatment .
