Relax, A colonoscopy requires air to be pumped into the bowel, inflating the organ so the camera at the end of the scope can image properly. That air can take from an hour to a few days to be expelled. If you have not been given specific instruction on how to reduce the discomfort then an over the counter simethicone product like GasX will help.

You could have an infection. They may have "nicked" the wall of the colon. Didn't the doctor give you post op info about this? A high fever of 102 or above should be a concern and you should call.

I had a 1000 cc capability distended bladder. I self catherized under the direction of my urologist. I cathed several times a day for my bladder shrunk back to normal and will now only hold 300 cc . My urologist is very pleased.-the answer is YES
