you have a couple options,
you can pull the motor and have it rebuilt
swap in a used motor from a junk yard
drop the transmission and pull the crank, replacing it with a new crank rods and bearings
if you are lucky you may not have scored the crank and you can replace the one bearing ang rod
or you can junk/sell the car
If the bearing has not spun or seized, you drop the oil pan, take the rod cap off of the rod and put the new bearing in. The bearing is in two pieces, half in the rod and half in the rod cap. If the bearing has spun, you should remove the crankshaft and either have the rod journal polished or machined for a thicker bearing.
Get a used engine and replace. Probably not worth repairing unless it's only a spun bearing and at that it's still probably cheaper to replace the motor. Get a used engine and replace. That would require you to take the engine apart and inspect all the engine bearings to know for sure. It would be easy to notice a spun bearing.
Oops the K5 blazer is a 91 not an 84 I found out the year of the motor was 96 to 2000 but I need information on fixing the bearings
Only if it all leaks out.
if the motor was run hot there are several things that could have happened.first it could of cracked or warpped a head. second it could have a spun bearing. that seases up after it gets hot .
A spun--Bad rod bearing. NO OIL PRESSURE.
Lack of oil changes. Will. Cause a bering to spin
There is no reason why you can't. If the rod bearing is still in it, you can tell if it has been spun. If the bearing appears alright, there should be no reason to have it checked. You would use new rings and a new bearing which are the parts that matter. You might even be able to use the old rings and bearing, but no one would. Too much chance of having a problem after it was put in.
bad oil pump or a spun rod\main bearing
lifter tick or a spun rod bearing
Sounds like you might have blown the motor, thrown rod, spun bearing, etc. Drive it by a local shop, for something like that, it should be a free second opinion of whether or not its repairable.
