I believe you can love someone as a person and maybe not feel a connection with them but even as friends I think there must be a connection with that person on some level at least. I don't really understand how a person can romantically love someone when there is no connection with that person. I think you should sit down and write out what you love about that person, what you don't like about that person, and how you would feel if you are not with that person any longer. That should give you some insight regarding your own feelings therefore giving you an idea of how to handle the situation.
