Depends, on when they fail. If you are driving at highway speeds, simply lift off the gas, pull the shift lever to 2nd gear, and after the vehicle slows down to around 30 mph, pull it into 1st gear. While doing this pull the parking brake but do not lock up the rear brakes. If you are in town going slow and the brakes fail, immediately pull the parking brake forcefully but do not lock up rear brakes. This would take practice to be done without loosing control.
