What should you do if your stepdaughter says she feels like throwing up if she eats too much and she stays in the bathroom too long but her mother doesn't believe you?

If you have adopted your step-daughter you don't need your wife's permission to get her to the family doctor. If you haven't adopted her you have two choices #1 convince your step-daughter that she needs to see the doctor and you'll go with her for moral support or #2 sit your wife down and be blunt about the condition of her daughter and you aren't accepting her attitude of denial any longer. Don't yell, scream, but tell her that you aren't sitting by and watching this. There are three good reasons your step-daughter may be vomiting after meals #1 She's pregnant or #2 She could have stomach problems, twisted bowel and needs a good physical by her doctor and #3 she could be Bulimic which means young women want to remain thin so they will eat, then go to the washroom and vomit the food up. Anorexia is another cause (they eat little and play with their food on their plate). If your step-daughter is quite thin and doesn't look well my guess is she is either Bulimic or Anorexic and these are two very serious diseases. You are a great step-father for caring so much so don't let your wife go into denial mode. Mean business when you talk to her! If it is an eating disorder it could signal way deeper things. I had a roomate once under treatment for bulemia. She was also diagnosed an NPD. Her doctors were not at liberty to discuss with me but i got to experience female npd manipulations, lies, backstabbing first hand. In any case your stepdaughter is young and still has a chance if brought in for treatment, diagnoses etc. Personalitiy has not yet fully developed.
