A blown fuse.
The bulbs should be checked on a 1993 Dodge Dakota if the taillights are not working. The plugs on the trailer package should also be checked to make sure that they are working.
Then go to a professional and have them look at it. Or your headlights and taillights light bulb thing is blown out. Either way you should go to a professional or have them come to you and DON'T DRIVE YOUR CAR!:0)
When the headlights are on.

How far should headlights shine?
I would suggest looking in your manual under headlights/taillights. Take the bulb out and look on the back of it. it should have numbers on it. Just go to the nearest autozone or pep boys or something, they will know.
First thing to do is check your fuses. Look under the hood for a fuse box there. It will be labeled on top and should show you what fuse is for what item. My 93 Prizm has this and there are two fuses for the headlights. Check them first. If they're okay, you need to check the plug-ins to the bulbs themselves. If they're okay, check the bulbs and if they're okay, check the wiring harness for any breaks. Your turn signals don't have a thing to do with your headlights.
Your dashboard lights suddenly not working is almost always your indication that your taillights are out. If the fuse for your taillights is blown and you replace it, your dash lights should be fine.
When it is raining during the day you should always keep your headlights on.
Removing the taillightsTo access the taillights one needs remove the taillights cover. To do this open the trunk, in the trunk are three plastic bolts that hold the taillights cover on. To have easier access to these bolts pull the trunk fabric a little away from the bolts. Unscrew these, then from the outside of the car pull the taillights cover toward you. Once the taillights cover is dislodged from its spot in the body of the car. You should have full access to all the individual lamps once you do this.
