These differences are based off of various factors, like height, weight, age, gender, activity level, body type, and many others. Generally, though, the average healthy adult who regularly exercsies needs about 1,500 to 2,000 caloires a day.
A rough equation is bodyweight in lbs x 15 = required calories. For example, I'm 225 lbs and I need about 3400 calories per day. 225*15 = 3375, fairly close. Of course, the amount you need will vary according to your lifestyle. If you're very active, it will be higher. If you're a couch potato, it will be lower.
