It takes a 7mm allen wrench.
You will need a hex key to remove the brake caliper on an '05 Navigator. There will be two bolts that need to be taken off with the hex key.
THERE ARE TWO BOLTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE CALIPER REMOVE THOSE AND PULL THE CALIPER OFF
# Raise and support truck on jackstands and remove tire # Remove the brake caliper. After removing the caliper bolts suspend the caliper out of the way with a piece of wire.On front disc brakes remove the 2 caliper mounting bracket to steering knuckle bolts and detach the mounting bracket. On rear disc brakes the rotor can be removed after the caliper has been removed
DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE THIS , BUT, A SPECIAL TOOL IS REQUIRED TO TURN THE CALIPER BRAKE PISTON BACK INTO THE CALIPER TO ALLOW REMOVAL OF THE PADS THIS IS FOR REAR BRAKES ONLY , THIS SET UP IS PART OF THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE FOR THIS VEHICLE. Yes there is a special tool but you can get away with a c clamp it will turn as it goes in The only way to remove the brakes is to remove the entire caliper if the pins are stuck you would have to heat them up. Remember to put caliper grease on pins when reinstalling them .
true you do not need to remove the caliper to change the brakes. how evever they are removeable. you should be able to loosen one bolt on the caliper and flip it up to remove the pads.
Remove the tire and wheel from your 1993 Lincoln Town car . Remove the brake spring and break caliper. Remove the brake rotor by tapping on it with a hammer or mallet. Slide the rotor off. Reverse the process to install the new rotor and brake pads.
Disc brakes? Remove wheel Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Remove rotor Re-install caliper and mounting bolts A special tool (not expensive available at Sears or Auto parts) is required because piston is threaded and must be screwed fully into caliper body Replace inner and outer pads Remove caliper mounting bolts Install rotor Re-install caliper PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SET PADS AGAINST ROTOR PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLE
you will need a c clamp to depress the caliper after pulling the brakes, first take the tire off second there are usually 2 bolts to the caliper remove the bolts third you will find the pads once you remove the caliper they will just snap in then you will need a flat surface to push agaisnt the caliper to depress it i usually use the old pad when you have finished you will need to pump your brakes in the car until the are hard.
very carefully...
Use a large C- clamp to depress the piston enough to remove the caliper.
