Main bearings are between crankshaft and main journals (engine block), rod bearings are between connecting rods and crankshaft and thrust bearings ensure crankshaft does not slide horizantally between journals they hold crank in place.

The flat spots on a crank are called journals. There are main caps with bearings both sides that hold the crank in the block. The conn rods have similar bearings & they also attach to crank journals. The bearings are c-shaped copper things that go in the conn rod & main caps for the crank.
The main bearing journals would need to be turned down .200".
Bore it out to the maximum "safe" bore (.060" overbore) which is 3.935". Stroke it to 3.25". This is the stock stroke for the 327 engine, which is the only other engine to have the smaller journals. Rod Journals are 2.00", Main Journals are 2.30".
If you mean the difference between the Pontiac 400 and 455....the differences are the bore size, the crank stroke length, and the main bearing journals. All are bigger on the 455. However, there is also a small block Chevy 400....which has nothing the same as the other two. The Pontiac 400 has a bore of 4.12, stroke 3.75 and 3" main journals. The 455 has a bore of 4.151, stroke of 4.21, and 3.25" main journals.
the torque setting for the the main bearings of the Toyota 2c engine is 103 Nm. The rid bearing caps are 59 Nm
what causes this is when the oil pump is broke or when it may get clogged with sludge from the old oil and there is no oil pressure at the crank journals and this creates friction because theres no oil and it spins a bearing this may also cause a rod to spin a bearing at the same time!!
