Hinckley did shoot James Brady, Thomas Delahanty and Timothy McCarthy. The sixth and final shot managed to ricochet off the armored side of the limousine hitting the president under the left arm. The bullet ended up lodging in his lung, stopping close to an inch from his heart.

In two separate incidents, Sara Jane Moore and Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme attempted to shoot President Gerald Ford in 1975. Neither attempt was successful and Ford was never shot.President Reagan was wounded in a shooting perpetrated by John Hinkley, but recovered from his wound.
Chances are good that he will not be. The Secret Service is good at protecting him. Also, if someone were that serious about wanting to shoot him, they probably would have tried to do it during his first term, which, as far as we know, did not happen. It seems there were more attempts on President Reagan's life than on President Obama's.
