With a gas powered torch and an electric welder you can put any front axle in any vehicle ever manufactured on planet earth
If it is 4 wheel drive then there is a solid axle in the rear and a trans-axle in the front. the trans-axel has two CV shafts on either side connecting to the front tires. If it is 2 wheel drive then there is just a solid rear axle. and your front tires mount to spindles.
The 2000 Ford Explorer owners manual shows : Motorcraft SAE 80 W - 90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant for the FRONT axle
Remove the rear wheel from the axle. Remove the brake pads and hardware. Remove the axle end cap. Remove the bearing. Reverse the process to install the new bearing.

The 2000 Ram had u joints, not cv joints at the front axle.
My Toyota Sienna 2000 axle nut measures 30 mm Sprayed the threads as I will be replacing an axle shortly. Probably the same size.
remove the 10mm bolt and remove it.disconnect plug at other end.
